When Brendan "Donut" McDonough hears confirmation of the deaths of all nineteen Granite Mountain Hotshots, a ringing cell phone is briefly seen on the seat a few rows in front of him. This mirrors a real life experience McDonough revealed in a later interview, where some of the firefighters' cell phones, left behind in the van, began ringing as their families received word of the tragedy and attempted to contact them. McDonough admitted he could not bring himself to answer the calls.
