The iconic scene where Jack Torrance goes into Room 237 and finds a naked and attractive woman only for her to morph into a hideous hag covered in blemishes and rot is oddly similar to a scene from Robert Eggers' directorial debut known as The Witch: A New England Folktale. The young boy, Jonas, finds himself in a scene where he is enchanted by a beautiful woman who lures him into a cabin, and as he reaches for her hand, her hand turns into a gnarled old woman's hand.
