In 2004, It was revealed in several newspaper articles that a Hillary Duff movie entitled "Raise Your Voice", about aspiring young performers at a performing arts high school in Los Angeles, was secretly financed by a Christian fundamentalist group whose goal was to make an "alternative version of Alan Parker's 1980 film, in order to rebuke it's crude and vulgar anti-Christian content and create a more positive spiritual outlook for young adults of a new generation". Upon it's release, the film received overwhelmingly negative reviews.
