The first shot of the film, is of the sun which is featured in the very first shot of Kong: Skull Island (2017), the sun has long been a metaphor for the story of Icarus, which Packard said in Kong: Skull Island, "remember the story of Icarus whose father gave him wings made of wax and warned him not to fly too close to the Sun" Kong: Skull Island even ends with Kong's eye turning into the sun. Also the first creatures to be shown in this movie are the leafwings which were also featured in Kong: Skull Island. They're latin name is 'Icarus Folium'
