Historically, Gordon Stewart Northcott took 13-year-old Sanford Clark from his home in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada, to a ranch in Wineville, California, in 1926, where he beat and sexually abused the boy. In August 1928, police took 15-year-old Sanford into protective custody after learning of his situation. This is why, in the movie Changeling (2008) at 1:30:29, detective Ybarra says "Sanford Clark's a kid, too. Fifteen. He's going to jail too." Reviewers of the movie prefer to think of Sanford Clark as 13 years old, something incentivized by the actor portraying him, Eddie Alderson, turning 13 shortly after the Changeling film shoot began October 15, 2007.
