Luke dies after his "duel" with former apprentice Kylo Ren, completing his characters parallels to his own mentor, Obi-Wan Kenobi. Both characters begin as Jedi apprentices, and are the first in their respective trilogies to use the phrase "I have a bad feeling about this." Both have been trained by two Jedi Masters, one of whom was Yoda. Luke's green lightsaber also resembles Obi-Wan's. Their other mentors are cut down in front of them, at which point they both scream "No!" Both cradle a dying Jedi (Qui-Gon, Vader/Anakin) after a Sith has been cast into a nearby chasm. Both are encouraged by a dying mentor to take on an apprentice. Both of those apprentices turn to the Dark Side, leading to the character's first appearance in the subsequent trilogy: as old men, grey haired and bearded, living in exile.
