It was rumoured that Maul would appear in the series however, Deborah Chow said that he was never in any of the show's plans. She also said that Dave Filoni had done a "beautiful job of telling that story already." Maul and Obi-Wan's story had already been explored in Star Wars: Rebels: Twin Suns (2017). Nevertheless, Darth Maul appears in archive footage in a recap of the prequel trilogy in Part I.
