Each of the triplets is a foil to one of the older generation of Duck cousins. Both Huey and Fethry are nerdy Junior Woodchucks who prefer red and wear a cap, although Huey is more sensible and less eccentric. Both Dewey and Donald are adventurous and favor blue, although Dewey lacks Donald's bad temper. Both Louie and Gladstone are lazy smooth-talkers who love money (preferring to earn it the easy way) and always dress in green, although Louie isn't as selfish as Gladstone.
