At the beginning of the first season of Facts of Life, Tootie was twelve years old, since ten years old Kim Fields would have been too young to be a student at Eastland girls school. However, in the later seasons of Facts of Life, these seasons ignored the age discrepancy. Tootie's age reverted to the actual age of actress Kim Fields resulting in several later storylines revolving around Tootie driving, turning sixteen, and graduating from high school, when the character should have been two to three years older that point.
