In actuality, Prince Felix Yusopov claimed that Grigory Rasputin was having tea and cakes poisoned with cyanide, and wine that was also poisoned with cyanide. When that didn't work, Yusupov shot him in the chest. Later, after impersonating Rasputin to make it look like he returned home, Yusupov check on the body of Rasputin, Rasputin attacked him, chasing Yusupov into the palace courtyard where Vladimir Purishkevich shot him. The body was then dropped into the Malaya Nevka River.
