After this role, co-star Gian Maria Volontè went on to an impressive film career, becoming one of the most celebrated Italian actors of the 1970s, even challenging Vittorio Gassman and Marcello Mastroianni as the most popular Italian actor of that era. He died at age 61 of a heart attack.
