As with the film Mile 22, the entire production of Road House shut down and then resumed around 2016. Mile 22 was eventually released in 2018 with Rousey a member of the cast. Road House production had recently resumed, but this time, Jake Gyllenhall was cast in the starring role. Rousey was let go because a new script by Nick Cassavettes was to be used and it was decided to keep the protagonist a male, as in the original.
