When Ramirez meets Connor and Heather, he tells them that he is from Spain and that he served under King Charles V, but later admits to Connor that he is Egyptian, not Spanish. In Ramirez's backstory, he was born as Tak Ne in ancient Egypt in 896 B.C. By 1514, he lived in Spain under the adopted name Juan Sanchez Villa-Lobos Ramirez and was King Charles V's Chief Metallurgist. After King Charles V died in 1521, Ramirez left Spain and journeyed to Scotland to find Connor MacLeod and begin his training.
