In preparation for the movie, Jürgen Vogel listened to 26 different CDs by German bands. Those by Kettcar and Tomte were the ones he liked best, so the Production Company contacted the bands' label Grand Hotel van Cleef and asked whether they'd be interested in making a movie with Jürgen Vogel. The musicians were then told about the film's rough plot and fictional singer/songwriter Markus Hansen's biography and asked to write 10 songs that fitted both.
