Costume designer Carlos Rosario, whose team fabricated all the clothes on location in Morocco, designed costumes that doubled as a form of cultural identity. "We needed to understand who the Sunnis were and the Shiites and the Druze, and the Muslims in the west side of Beirut, and the Christians in the east," Rosario said. "There were so many different categories of costumes, it felt like I was recreating not just one world but all the different worlds of people from different religious backgrounds."
