During filming, the Santa model vehicle ''sleigh itself needed to cope with being suspended several metres off the ground and supported from underneath for other shots'' according to the Kiwi 'Stuff' website. A CGI-version of Santa's sleigh was digitally composited for the flying scenes which included features seen on the vehicle's dashboard while close-up shots with Santa actor Kari Väänänen on the flying machine were shot on a studio sound stage in Auckland.
