William Shatner confirmed that he would not be making nor been asked to make a cameo appearance in the film to mark the 50th anniversary of the original series. However, he appears in a photo at the film's ending, together with the rest of the original Enterprise crew. The group photo is from Star Trek V - L'ultima frontiera (1989), which coincidentally was directed by Shatner.
