Earlier versions of the script contained the name Montross, which was given to different characters as the script progressed. In the rough draft from 1974, Montross was an aide of General Skywalker. A character named Montross Holdaack, who appeared in the 1975 draft of the script, was described as a science officer on a ship that belonged to Jabba. He was also a friend of Han Solo. In a later draft, the character evolved into an Imperial bureaucrat, who was working at the Mos Eisley spaceport. He was set to be played by Richard LeParmentier. However, Montross was later cut entirely, and LeParmentier was given the role of Admiral Motti instead. The name was later given to a bounty hunter in the game Star Wars: Bounty Hunter (2002), which has since lost its canon status. In 2016, the name was eventually adapted into the official canon with the introduction of the Montross system, which first appeared in Star Wars: Rebels: The Antilles Extraction (2016).
