David Ayer revealed in a Q&A on Twitter that King Shark was originally going to appear in the film, but would only have been possible as a fully CGI character. His replacement, Killer Croc, is portrayed practically with make-up and prosthetics. King Shark, or Nanaue, would feature as a CGI character in the movie's successor, The Suicide Squad - Missione suicida (2021).
