The award that C.D. receives for his career in Texas law enforcement is called "The Frank Hamer Award". The award is named after the legendary Texas Ranger who began his career on horseback in the wild west of the 1890s, and retired during the gangster era of the 1920s and 1930s. Hamer is best remembered as the man who led the posse that killed Bonnie and Clyde.
