In the months following the release of the film, Erik Bauersfeld, who voiced Admiral Ackbar in Il ritorno dello Jedi (1983) as well as this film, died in April 2016 at the age of 96. Four months later, in August 2016, Kenny Baker, who operated R2-D2 for the first six films of the franchise, while serving as a consultant for this one, passed away at the age of 81.
