The mirrored sunglasses worn by Boss Godfrey really resonated with Dr. Philip Zimbardo. In his infamous Stanford Prison Experiment in 1971, Zimbardo had all of the "prison guards" wear mirrored sunglasses. This further separated the "prisoners" from the "guards," and led to feelings of apathy and inhumanity between the two groups.
