Prospects for a successful release did not look good. Dan Aykroyd and John Belushi had left "Il Saturday Night Live (1975)" at the end of the previous season, reducing their bankability. Belushi's fame had taken a further hit after the commercial and critical failure of "1941 - Allarme a Hollywood (1979)" at the end of the year.
