When Loki is seemingly killed, the manner he is killed is similar to how Superman dies in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016). They stop a seemingly invincible alien being by running him the chest with a spear-like weapon, but almost immediately before dying, the alien being stabs Loki/Superman through, seemingly killing them until the next movie.
