According to Tim Matheson, Universal would only let the production print one take of each scene, so director John Landis wouldn't say cut at the end of a scene. He would just have the actors keep redoing the scene and he would quickly tell them "Oh, no, no, get back. Do it again. Do it again. Funnier. Faster."
