British singer Emma Bunton had won the lead female role of this sequel. She was selected to replace Beyoncé as the female lead, named Milly Baxter. Unfortunately, she was forced to drop out due her pregnancy and her reunion tour commitments in 2007. Eventually, Bunton's character was deleted from the final script draft.
