The affair between Sibylla and Balian of Ibelin is entirely fictional. Neither was he offered her hand in marriage or the throne. Historical accounts say that Sibylla loved her husband Guy of Lusignan deeply; furthermore, the great baron Balian was himself happily married with a family who lived with him at Ibelin. After the deaths of King Baldwin IV and King Baldwin V, Guy would later become King Guy and lead the crusader army which was virtually annihilated at Hattin.
