In the scene when Dude initially sees the world through the sunglasses, which effectively ends his battle with Guy, the background music is the theme song from "Greatest American Hero", a TV show that originally aired from 1981-1983. "Greatest American Hero" was about a very ordinary, vanilla man whose life was changed when he accidentally becomes a superhero and the challenges he faces learning to not be ordinary, much like Guy's transformation in the movie.
