This movie is the culmination of one of Sir Alfred Hitchcock's favorite plot devices, of concluding the plot with a hair-raising fall from a great height. His other movies to end this way are Omicidio! (1930), La taverna della Giamaica (1939), Il prigioniero di Amsterdam (1940), Sabotatori (1942), La finestra sul cortile (1954), and La donna che visse due volte (1958).
