Benedict Cumberbatch and Jonny Lee Miller each play both Victor Frankenstein and the Creature. The first actor to play both roles was Ian Holm in Mystery and Imagination: Frankenstein (1968). Holm later returned to play Frankenstein's father in Frankenstein di Mary Shelley (1994). He also played the role of Frodo Baggins in the BBC Radio adaptation of The Lord of the Rings, and came back to play Bilbo in The Lord of the Rings and Hobbit films. Benedict Cumberbatch played Smaug in the Hobbit films. The young Bilbo was played by Cumberbatch's Dr. Watson actor, Martin Freeman. Holm also appeared in Danny Boyle's film A Life Less Ordinary.
