In the film, Nate's brother Sam gives him the necklace of Sir Francis Drake's ring before leaving to evade being arrested after breaking into a museum. In the video game, a 15-year-old Nate steals the ring for himself from a Sir Francis Drake exhibition in Cartagena, Colombia.
