Colonel Baird (Richard Todd) wears a Parachute Regiment beret and battledress blouson in several scenes. In real life, Todd had served in the 6th Airborne Division and as part of Operation Overlord he took part in the action to take Pegasus Bridge; in The Longest Day he would play Colonel John Howard, who commanded that operation.
