Danny Torrance puts his hands over his face and then peeks through his fingers when he sees the ghosts of the Grady twins in this movie much in the same way Carrie White puts her hands over her face and then peeks out at the audience at the prom after she's been covered in blood in Carrie - Lo sguardo di Satana (1976). Stanley Kubrick might have just been ripping off Brian De Palma here since this was not described in the book at all.
