This was Carrie Fisher's final film where she was directly involved; she died in December 2016 and this film was dedicated to her memory. Her next film appearance, Star Wars - L'ascesa di Skywalker (2019), would be in the form of previously unused footage from Star Wars - Il risveglio della Forza (2015).
