Producer Todd Helbing has stated that this series takes place outside of the "Arrowverse" and in its own universe, where Tyler Hoechlin's Superman is the only super-powered hero on Earth. This means that the versions of Superman and Lois Lane in the series are variants of the versions of the characters seen previously on Supergirl and other Arrowverse programs.This conflicts with John Diggle's on-screen references to other heroes when he delivers the equipment from Argus in Season 1.
