Paul Le Mat is the fourth of seven actors to play the Dortmunder character in a movie. The first had been Robert Redford in La pietra che scotta (1972) and the second was George C. Scott in La rapina più pazza del mondo (1974). The third had been Italy's Come ti rapisco il pupo (1977) where Teo Teocoli played the character renamed as "Elia". Christopher Lambert was the fifth in Perché proprio a me? (1990), Herbert Knaup the sixth in Jimmy the Kid (1998) with Martin Lawrence the seventh playing the character renamed as "Kevin Caffery" in Lo scroccone e il ladro (2001).
