Luke Skywalker mentions Darth Sidious by name, the only throwback to a name that only appeared in the prequel trilogy (Though Darth Sidious appears in L'Impero colpisce ancora (1980) and Il ritorno dello Jedi (1983), he is only referred to as the Emperor). It is likely that Luke learned the Sith title of Senator/Chancellor/Emperor Palpatine, a name also used only in the prequel trilogy, by conversing with the Force ghosts of Obi-Wan or Yoda sometime between Il ritorno dello Jedi (1983) and Star Wars - Il risveglio della Forza (2015).
