The film was shot in 12 different locations and three different countries: Canada, the US and Argentina. Specifically, Canadian filming took place in British Columbia and Alberta including Squamish, Fortress Mountain, and at Mammoth Studios in Burnaby, British Columbia. While the initial plan was to film entirely in Canada, the weather ended up being too warm, leading the filmmakers to locations at the southern tip of Argentina, with snow on the ground, to shoot the film's ending.
