In a 2023 video, the series' co-developer Christian Faber revealed there was a reason why Mr. Akiyama Makuro suspiciously resembled a character from LEGO's earlier action figure franchise, BIONICLE. He was originally intended to be a Turaga-like figure, an elder chieftain of the BIONICLE world, forming a cross-continuity connection between the two franchises. Since this reveal was removed from the story, Mr. Makuro's distinct visual appearance as an elderly, robed, green robot who walks with a cane was left with no explanation.
