On the commentary Steven Soderbergh and Lem Dobbs discuss the Cockney rhyming. Dobbs notes he only had one instance of this in the screenplay but feels Soderbergh and Terrence Stamp both fell in love with it and added more moments of it in the film. "There are two more," responds Soderbergh. "There are three in the entire 90 minutes." "It's too much," says Dobbs. Soderbergh just lets out a "Jesus". Dobbs says, "David Lean used to say, 'Never pop out of the same hole twice.'." Soderbergh responds, "Yeah, he was noted for his short films."
