This is the only movie in the Alien franchise that does not contain a variation of the Alien Queen. Aliens - Scontro finale (1986), Alien - La clonazione (1997) and Alien vs. Predator (2004) prominently featured an adult Queen; in Alien³ (1992), Ripley discovers that an Alien queen embryo is growing inside of her in the third act; and Aliens vs. Predator 2 (2007) features a premature Predalien Queen, according to the directors. The reason is that James Cameron developed the concept of an Alien Queen for Aliens (1986), so the idea did not exist for this movie's production. Instead, the script and a deleted scene showed that the Alien can perpetuate its species itself, by transforming Brett into an Alien egg and using Dallas as its intended host. This scene was cut for pacing reasons but restored in the Director's Cut.
