It was revealed in 2022 by series writer Coral Drouyn that in 2002 the series producers were said to terminate Lynne McGranger's contract because of the lack of story available to Lynne's character Irene, but a rewrite from Coral saved Lynne's career on Home and Away and she became a stalwart of the series in the years that followed.
