When Mike Baldwin's factory was demolished in 1989 due to redevelopment, the Bettabuy supermarket was introduced as a new workplace for many characters. Filming took place in a real branch of Morrisons supermarket in Eccles on Sundays when the store was closed. When UK Sunday Trading laws were amended in 1994, allowing larger shops to open on Sundays, Bettabuy was written out of the script, with Firman's Freezers later replacing it as a regular workplace. The latter was noticeably smaller than Bettabuy, given it was a studio set rather than a real supermarket. Firman's was later replaced by Freshco, which is still referenced as the local supermarket as of 2022, but has not appeared as a regular workplace since 2000 - ironically due to the establishment of Mike Baldwin's new factory, Underworld.
