By the end of its run, the show was awarded a total of 60 Emmy awards, more than any other scripted series in history. 59 awards were given in the annual Emmy Awards ceremonies and another Emmy Founders Award was given to show-runners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss as part of the International Emmy Awards ceremony after the show concluded. The show won the "Outstanding Drama Series" Awards 4 times (for seasons 5, 6, 7 and 8) and now holds the record (along with four other shows) for the most wins in that category in the Emmys' entire history.
