After Richie reveals himself as the second killer, he says to Sam that it was "the best choice for the movie." Sam then tells him "This isn't a fucking movie," to which Richie replies, "No, but it will be." This is likely a callback to Scream 4 (2011) in which Charlie, under the guise of Ghostface, tells Sidney the same thing over the phone after she discovers Olivia's dead body.
