In an E! True Hollywood Story interview, Jay North revealed that after the first season of the show he was no longer happy with the pressure of being a child protagonist, specially because during those years his aunt (Marie E. Hopper), became very authoritarian and wanted to control him, with even some physical punishment; this sacrifice unknown to his mother, cast and crew back then, accentuated the effects of the posterior abandonment that Hollywood has given many times to grown up actors typecasted as former child actors. He grew up angry with those memories and it was only much later in life that he managed to deal with it all, accepting the positive impact the show had in its fans and the satisfaction of the nice image he created, then finding new horizons for himself as a person.
