During production, screenwriter Leslie Bohem pitched the idea of a Freddy baby to the studio. His pitch involved telling a pregnant executive to imagine Freddy's claws tearing out of your body. Unsurprisingly, his idea wasn't used. His idea of a "Freddy baby" was ultimately used in Nightmare 5 - Il mito (1989), which he wrote.
