To Zorro fans, Guy Williams looks very different here, even though he has the same haircut. His character has none of the self-assured charm of Don Diego de la Vega. It isn't due to his lack of pencil mustache. The major difference is his smile: whereas in Zorro, he had a trademark bright smile---which people joked one needed sunglasses to avert its brightness---here his teeth are neither perfectly straight, nor "blindingly white". It is unclear why that is, as dentistry wasn't that advanced in 1957. Either way, Guy smiled very rarely on this show and his lips curled differently, as if he were trying to conceal his teeth. Also, his nose went from longer and pointy in Zorro; here, to bulbous, shorter, and a strangely round nose tip.
