Kevin Smith decided to make this film while he was in the hospital with a near-fatal heart attack in 2018. He said that being so close to death, he simply couldn't bear the thought that Yoga Hosers - Guerriere per sbaglio (2016) would be his final film. He also wanted to have a good memory of working with Jason Mewes on a Jay and Silent Bob movie, since Jay & Silent Bob... Fermate Hollywood! (2001) had been extremely complicated by Mewes' drugs and alcohol problems.
