At least three times, a contestant did not respond when called to "come on down" during the first four call at the beginning. The first was a woman named Susan Derbeck, whom after sheepishly finally getting up to make her way to Contestant's Row, explained she was getting so used to her soon-to-be married last name of DuPont she absent-mindedly forgot her maiden name. The second was a contestant named Nicole, whom was named Thornborough, but was called as Thorenson by Rod, and Bob thought he heard Barrington. Another contestant was called in her place, and once the smoke was cleared, she was called down as the next contestant after the first pricing game. (Rod is heard during the opening laughingly telling another (assumingly male) audience member, "That's not you. Sit down.", then he say's "What?" as he was likely told by Roger to call another contestant.)The third was a male contestant whom, due to the taping starting while the contestants were still filing in, wasn't yet in the studio when he was called (his friends were shown on camera yelling and pointing that he was still outside the studio), so Rod immediately called another contestant down in his place, then called him down as the next contestant after the first pricing game. He luckily won his way out of Contestants Row on that one-bid and played the next pricing game for a car.
